In June 2019, Elena Ivanova returned to Cranbrook where she had served as Curator of Education at Cranbrook Art Museum from 2001 to 2009. At the Center, she conducts tours of Saarinen House, Smith House, and the Cranbrook campus. Elena previously worked as Chief Educator at Stark Museum of Art in Orange, Texas, and was a staff writer for Issue, the Arts Magazine of the Art Studio in Beaumont, Texas. She currently is publishing a biography of Russian-American artist Leon Gaspard. Elena holds two academic degrees from her native city of Saint Petersburg, Russia: an MA in English language and literature from the University of Saint Petersburg (1978) and a PhD in Education from the Russian Academy of Pedagogy (1988). She holds a Master of Liberal Studies from the University of Oklahoma in Norman (2000) and is a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society, the international society for women educators.
