CRANBROOK ARCHIVES JANICE AND BARRY KING
VISITING SCHOLARS FELLOWSHIP
Cranbrook Center for Collections and Research offers awards to qualified scholars whose research interests and goals would benefit significantly from conducting onsite research utilizing the holdings of Cranbrook Archives. Named in honor of Archives patrons Janice and Barry King, awards ranging from $500-$2,500 are intended to reimburse expenses involved with traveling to Cranbrook’s campus for visits of one to two weeks in length.
Projects can include, but are not limited to: visual, audio, or performing arts projects; podcasts; academic research; fiction or non-fiction writing; and exhibitions. Preference will be given to projects that lead to publication, public lecture, or public performance.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must be 18 years of age and live more than 150 miles from Bloomfield Hills, MI. Cranbrook employees are not eligible. Applicants should submit:
- a resume, short curriculum vitae, or portfolio (not to exceed 5 pages)
- a proposal (not to exceed 750 words) which includes a project title, project description, collections to be used and their significance to the project, and the project’s current status
- any letters of support (preferred, but not required)
- projected dates and costs for the visit
Applications are currently being accepted for travel between July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027. Preference will be given to applications received by May 1, 2026, or until all funds are dispersed. Please note that the Archives is closed, and access is not offered between December 24 – January 2.
