Leon Guallart is an artist from Barcelona whose sound has been described as "a warm hug in the middle of a snowstorm." His current project, the Comfort: Home Tour, brings warmth and intimacy to architecturally significant spaces around the world. Guallart’s concerts at Cranbrook will bring the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Smith House to life, filling the spaces with music, storytelling, and the conviviality of friendship in the same way Sara and Melvyn Smith used the home during their lives together in this iconic 1950 Usonian house. The concert is part of the Center’s year-long celebration of Smith House’s 75th anniversary.

Tickets

More about the Artist and Concerts:
Born in Barcelona, Spain, and based in both Barcelona and Los Angeles, Leon Guallart is a multidisciplinary artist whose work moves fluidly between music, film, and storytelling. At the age of just sixteen, he produced a web series that sold out Barcelona’s iconic Cines Girona, and his work has since been recognized at international events and festivals including the Venice TV Awards, LA Film Festival, and Chicago Indie Film Festival. He has also produced an album for Sony Music and written a full-length contemporary ballet for the Ballet Contemporani de Catalunya.

With the Comfort: Home Tour, his most personal project to date, Guallart creates spaces of warmth and refuge in response to the state of the world. His performance at Cranbrook continues this journey, bringing his music into a place long known for its devotion to art, craft, and architectural vision.

The concert at Cranbrook is part of an ongoing series that has included performances at La Pedrera by Antoni Gaudí and Ricardo Bofill’s Studio in Barcelona, Casa Pedregal by Luís Barragán in Mexico City, and the Burns House by Charles Moore in Los Angeles. The 2025 American tour will include performances at Fallingwater by Frank Lloyd Wright in Pennsylvania, at the Edith Farnsworth House by Mies van der Rohe in Illinois, and at the MIT Chapel by Eero Saarinen in Massachusetts.
