Festivities will take place in Kingswood School, widely considered a design masterpiece of the Saarinen family. Guests will celebrate surrounded by textiles produced by Studio Loja Saarinen

Loja Saarinen lived in Saarinen House from 1930-1951, hosting the distinguished guests of Cranbrook Academy of Art, quite literally the "who’s who” of 20th-century design.

Loja Saarinen’s talents extended to her design of several landscapes at Cranbrook including the Saarinen House Courtyard. In the middle of the Saarinen House Courtyard visitors find Kivi’s Muse, a sculpture by Finnish sculptor Wäino Aaltonen selected by Loja herself.

The Festival of the May Queen Tapestry is one of the most important textiles created by Studio Loja Saarinen. The famous tapestry was exhibited across the country before being installed with pride of place in the Kingswood Dining Hall, where it has hung for close to ninety years.
