Episode 7: The Architecture of Cranbrook Academy of Art
Learn more about the history of Cranbrook Academy of Art’s architecture on today’s Live at Five. Completed in 1938, Studio #5 by Eliel Saarinen is flooded with even, northern light. The steel frame glass curtain wall reflects the influence of Detroit’s industrial architecture by way of the Bauhaus Dessau, which closed one year after the Academy opened in 1932.

Episode 12: Thornlea House
Kevin takes us on a tour of Thornlea, built in 1925. Thornlea was the home of Harry (Henry Scripps) and Carol (Carolyn Farr) Booth and their five children: Stephen, David, Melinda, Cynthia, and Martha.
